A Little Rock nonprofit gets ready to provide Thanksgiving meals to the homeless
Little Rock, Arkansas – As Arkansans get ready for the holiday, they are thinking about Thanksgiving supper.
For its upcoming Tuesday dinner, The Shack, a Little Rock nonprofit that helps those in need, has been cooking the meal for days.
Nearly 100 people are expected to attend, according to organizers.
There will be casseroles, ham, turkey, and whatever dessert you can imagine, according to Pastor Marty Mote.
The Shack is a ministry that has evolved into a gathering spot and a giving tree for the homeless, which is what Mote felt is most crucial.
“They miss where they used to gather. Mote stated, “They miss spending Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays with their family. “It’s the companionship and camaraderie, not so much the food.”
A man who goes by the name Monkey Dee claimed to be homeless and that he has been going to The Shack for the past five months because it helps him feel at ease.
He said, “Very important,” when asked how significant that is. You never know what someone else is going through in their day-to-day existence.
He claimed that the holidays truly help in his recovery and that he will be attending the Thanksgiving dinner.
“I know from experience that it’s difficult.” “Monkey Dee said.” In my experience, though, it actually makes things simpler. People are more sincere around the holidays, which I adore.
According to Mote, The Shack is constantly in need of tents, blankets, and warm clothing.
The Shack may be found in Little Rock at 3320 Baseline Road.
