After a tornado causes extensive damage in central Arkansas, several emergency shelters opened

Little Rock, Arkansas – As a tornado wreaked havoc on the state on Friday afternoon, many emergency shelters are available in and around central Arkansas.

For anyone impacted by the storms, there are five shelters in Little Rock, North Little Rock, and Jacksonville.

A temporary shelter for evacuated residents has been established by the city of Little Rock at Hall STEAM Magnet High School, located at 6700 H St.

A further shelter has been set up at Immanuel Baptist Church, located at 501 North Shackleford Road.

The city said that Rock Region Metro would offer a shuttle service from the affected areas.

At the Calvary Baptist Church on Cantrell Road in Little Rock’s Heights district, an American Red Cross-sponsored shelter for those in need opened at six o’clock.

There would be no need for identification or evidence of residency, according to the Red Cross, for anybody seeking shelter at the church. They advised bringing enough clothes for a few days, bedding, toiletries, necessary medications, and/or a teddy animal, blanket, or other items for your children.

“American Red Cross services are free and available to all regardless of race, religious beliefs, nationality, or citizenship status,” the Red Cross said in a news release.

The community center for the city of North Little Rock is located at 2700 Willow St.

Jacksonville’s First Baptist Church, located at 401 N. First St., provides a safe haven for storm victims.

“Recovery efforts for our city and its residents will be long, but we are resilient,” Little Rock Mayor Frank Scott, Jr. said in a statement. “We will continue to work together to move from this natural disaster stronger than before.”
