Arkansas Department of Health offering free flu clinics
Jonesboro, Arkansas – At its neighborhood health centers and schools, the Arkansas Department of Health will once more provide free flu vaccination clinics.
The ADH released a news release on Friday stating that the clinics would start on Monday, Sept. 26.
The clinic will be held in the Craighead County Health Unit, 611 E. Washington Ave. in Jonesboro, starting at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 27.
The shot is free, but patients need to bring their insurance cards.
Although COVID-19 has received much of the nation’s attention in recent years, Dr. Joel Tumlison, ADH’s medical director for vaccines, believes influenza deserves just as much attention.
“The flu should not be taken lightly,” he said. “We are encouraging everyone to get a flu vaccine to protect themselves and their families because it is hard to predict in advance how severe the flu season is going to be.”
As long as COVID-19 is “still circulating in our communities,” according to Tumlison, it is crucial that locals maintain good health and avoid the hospital.
The ADH will provide in-school flu vaccine clinics on campuses across the state in addition to community clinics.
