Arkansas State University will not require masks next school year; tuition and fees will not rise

Little Rock, Arkansas – For the upcoming school year, tuition and fees will be the same as last year and masks will not be required by staff and students. This decision came after ASU officials managed to keep budget expenses below pre-pandemic levels. This applies for ASU and the five two-year institutions in the ASU System.
“Very conservative budgeting and financial management during extraordinary times served the system institutions well during the past year,” system President Chuck Welch told the ASU System Board of Trustees on Thursday at its regular meeting. This is great news as ASU System institutions manages to not increase the prices for third time in last for years. Henderson State University is excluded of this decision.
“State revenues exceeded expectations and the federal stimulus funds have enabled us to recover lost pandemic revenues,” Welch said. “We were fortunate that we did not have to rely on reserve funds because we have healthy, financially stable institutions. Now we’re focusing on getting enrollment levels back to pre-pandemic levels as quickly as possible.”
In the efforts to strengthen its financial condition, trustees approved a 2.3% tuition and fee increase for Henderson State for the upcoming school year.
