As the arctic front moves across Central Arkansas, warming centers open
Little Rock, Arkansas – A cold front is expected to move into Arkansas on Sunday afternoon, making this week extremely frigid. Prior to the cold front, warm, humid air will rush forward, creating the conditions for a few potentially powerful or severe storms.
Many locations in Central Arkansas have set up warming shelters to provide individuals with a comfortable place to stay during this arctic cold.

Dunbar Community Center | 1001 W. 16th St. | Open from January 5, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. through 9:00 a.m. on January 6, 2025, | Will reopen at 6:00 p.m. on January 6, 2025, through 9:00 a.m. on January 7, 2025

North Little Rock:
North Little Rock Community Center | 2700 North Willow Street | Opens at 6:00 p.m. from January 5 – 10, 2025
Conway:
Don Owen Sports Center | 10 Lower Ridge Rd. | Open 24/7 beginning on January 5, 2024 | Guests must check in before 9:00 p.m. to stay overnight
McGee Center | 3800 College Ave. | Open Monday through Saturday from 7:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m. and Sunday from 1:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Conway Emergency Shelter | 1116 Gum St. | Check in daily from 3:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. for overnight stays | Only for 18+
Hot Springs:
Hot Springs Community Resource Center | 109 Hobson Avenue | Opens January 5, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. through January 12, 2025 (Depending on weather).
Jacksonville:
First Presbyterian Church | 1208 W. Main Street | Open from 6:00 p.m. on January 5, 2025, through 8:00 a.m. on January 8, 2025
