Deadline to apply for FEMA tornado assistance approaching

Little Rock, Arkansas — Next week is the deadline for Arkansans to apply for assistance after December’s storms and tornadoes.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency is encouraging those with “damage to your home, vehicle, or belongings that is greater than your insurance coverage” to submit a claim by Tuesday, Feb. 22.
The Dec. 10 storms created 13 tornadoes spanning across five Arkansas counties: Craighead, Jackson, Mississippi, Poinsett, and Woodruff.
Gov. Asa Hutchinson issued a state of emergency after these late 2021 storms, followed by a FEMA declaration on Dec. 23.
Disaster grants are not for regular living expenses.
