Dozens from across the Natural State compete in biking competition
Conway, Arkansas – This weekend marks the inaugural visit of the Arkansas NICA mountain bike tournament to Conway.
Through this group, bicyclists ranging from sixth to twelfth grade can participate in competitions.
Seth Theriot, who raced for the Conway Bearcats, was honored to be racing on behalf of Arkansas.
Theriot remarked, “I think it’s really cool that I get to meet new people every year and I’m really proud to be doing this with everybody else.”
Harrison, Arkansas was represented by the Buffalo Riders. Roni Combs, their coach, expressed her satisfaction that Conway hosted the competition this year.
“We are enjoying ourselves immensely here today; this is only our second season, so we’re still getting to know things,” Combs remarked.
She claims that everyone who joins is taken care of by the organization, and sponsors contribute bikes and scholarships to individuals in need every year.
Lead organizer and director of Arkansas NICA Terry Coddington says it all began with him and one group. There are currently more than a thousand distinct teams within the company.
“Our objective is to get every young person in the state of Arkansas on a bike who wants to be on a bike because we simply see it as youth development on two wheels,” Coddington stated.
He claims to have seen the young people in the group mature and rise to difficulties that were beyond their capabilities.
For those of you wondering what comes next. Coddington stated, “We’re returning to Conway, Arkansas, on September 28 and 29 of that weekend.”
