Final leg of torch run through central Arkansas leads to Special Olympics summer games

Little Rock, Arkansas – One more thing needed to be done before the opening ceremonies of the 2023 Arkansas Special Olympics Summer Games.
The Olympic torch was brought to its conclusion on Thursday morning when Guardians of the Flame gathered on the steps of the State Capitol.
Earlier this week, the state’s counties participated in the Law Enforcement Torch Run, which culminated in the last push to run 50 miles from Little Rock to Harding Stadium in Searcy.
Stephanie Price, the athlete leader, participated in the run and noted that this was the opportunity she had been looking forward to all year.
“I’m not running for myself,” Price said. “I’m running with all the hopes and dreams of all the athletes. I love seeing all my friends and Special Olympics family. All the training was worth it.”
At the 7:30 p.m. start of the games, 1500 Special Olympics competitors from all around the state will compete in 6 different events.
Visitors are welcome and the events are open to the public.
