Flags at half-staff in remembrance of the Stone County deputy slain in the line of duty



Little Rock, Arkansas – In observance of Stone County Deputy Justin Smith’s death while performing his duties, Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders has directed that flags be flown at half-staff from January 4 to January 6.

“Deputy Smith will serve as a shining example of the strength and determination of Arkansas’ law enforcement,” Sanders stated. “Our entire state mourns for him and prays for his family and fellow officers.”

Tuesday, while attempting to serve Clinton Hefton, 52, with a misdemeanor terroristic threatening warrant, Smith was shot and murdered in the line of duty.

On Wednesday, there was a procession that started at the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory and ended at Mountain View.
