For National Donut Day, the Salvation Army is providing free donuts and coffee
Little Rock, Arkansas – Starting at 7:45 a.m. on Friday, the Salvation Army’s central Arkansas command will celebrate National Donut Day by offering free donuts and coffee from their canteen at the junction of Capitol Avenue and Main Street.
This yearly celebration honors the selfless effort and commitment of The Salvation Army volunteers, known as “Donut Lassies,” who gave soldiers food and comfort during World War I, according to a news release.
“We invite the entire community to join us on this special occasion as we pay tribute to the rich history of The Salvation Army & National Donut Day,” said Major Bill Mockabee, Area Commander of the Central Arkansas Area Command. “Our canteen will be stocked with delicious donuts and freshly brewed coffee, and we are thrilled to share these treats with everyone in a spirit of gratitude and unity. We would like to thank our friends at Downtown Little Rock Partnership Program for hosting us at the area of Capitol & Main for another year.”
By presenting a modest measure of thanks to the neighborhood, the Salvation Army Central Arkansas Area Command is carrying on the custom of commemorating National Donut Day and honoring the Donut Lassies.
According to the press release, everyone can enjoy free coffee and doughnuts on this joyful day, bringing happiness and kindness to all.
