I-40 East of Hazen closed due to tractor-trailer fire

Little Rock, Arkansas – On Friday at noon, a tractor-trailer fire near Hazen closed the eastbound lanes of Interstate 40 and created a significant traffic jam.
The accident was reported soon after 10:45 a.m., claims the Arkansas Department of Transportation. 2.5 miles east of Hazen, close to milepost 201.2.
Large black smoke plumes can be seen rising from the crash site in images provided by ARDOT.
After the initial closure of the right lane and shoulder, all lanes were closed due to the collision. At 11:20 a.m., this restriction caused eastbound traffic to come to a complete stop, with backups extending nearly halfway back to the Hazen exit.
When the lanes will open again is presently unknown. Officials at the scene have not yet provided information on the number of vehicles involved in the collision or any injuries that may have occurred.
