Jonesboro City Water and Light is cleaning up the water system
Jonesboro, Arkansas – This week, Jonesboro City Water and Light has scheduled a water system flush.
Within city bounds, the flushing will start on Sunday, April 21 at about 10 p.m. and stop at about 6 a.m.
According to Slade Mitchell, the administrator of energy marketing, the town’s water quality is fine. He said that to maintain pure water, fire hydrants occasionally need to have their mineral accumulation flushed out. Mitchell stated that drinking water with a mineral buildup is harmless.
“If someone sees discolored water just turn on the cold water in the tub, and leave it going for a few minutes,” Mitchell said. “That usually clears it up.”
CWL anticipates having completed the system flush by Friday, April 26.
