Little Rock Police suggest that one New Year’s event to avoid is celebratory gunfire

Little Rock, Arkansas – As the new year approaches, Little Rock police are urging residents to prioritize safety by avoiding one particular celebration – celebratory gunfire.

Three years prior, Gwen Combs and her spouse were in slumber when they were startled awake by the sound of gunfire.

“We heard a tremendous bang, and it turned out that our house had been shot,” Combs recounted, “It struck our home just 10 feet from the window above our bed where we were sleeping.”

The situation was not only frightening for Combs and her husband, but it also posed a threat to their dog.

“He was quite disturbed by the intense, loud noise. Combs remarked on the ongoing display of fireworks and the persistent sound of gunshots.

The bullet hole serves as a stark reminder of the potential dangers that can arise during celebrations.

“While the likelihood of being struck by celebratory gunfire is minimal, the severity of the consequences when it does occur is significant,” Combs stated.

This year, Combs is simply seeking a tranquil New Year’s Eve.

“Clearly, what rises must eventually fall.” Combs pointed out a common misunderstanding, stating, “People believe it just continues to rise, but it actually falls, and when it does, it descends with such speed that it can penetrate a human skull.”

Please remember that celebratory gunfire is prohibited within the city limits of Little Rock. Individuals who are apprehended may encounter imprisonment and significant financial penalties.
