Local businesses honor high school students in Arkansas

Little Rock, Arkansas – Two Little Rock companies are honoring two high school students from the Natural State for their dedication.
It was revealed on Sunday that Westside High School senior Darvin Foster and Jessieville High School senior Juliah Rogers will share the 2023 Rock City Running and Kinco Constructors student athlete scholarship awards.
Each company received $2,500 in addition to a pair of Brooks shoes to help with the students’ education.
The amount of the scholarships surprised the beneficiaries because it was higher than they anticipated, according to Bill Torrey of Rock City Running.
“Anybody that’s been to college knows how expensive it is, at least this gives them a little bit of book money, spending money,” Torrey said. “Initially, you know, leaving the house ‘you’re on your own. You’ve got to figure it out.”
The new Rock City Running location in the Market Place Shopping Center gave the two students their scholarships.
The March 31 tornado completely demolished the former Rock City location.
