Man found dead in submerged vehicle
NEWPORT, Ark. – A Newport man died after his SUV plunged into a lake.
A passerby reported finding a 2000 Nissan Xterra in Newport Lake at 1:10 a.m. Monday, April 6, according to the Arkansas State Police crash report.
It appeared 44-year-old Bobby Pierce was westbound on Malcolm Avenue when the SUV drove into the lake.
His body was found in the driver’s seat of the submerged vehicle.
According to the report, road conditions were dry and the weather was clear at the time of the crash.
