Millionaire donates free gas to drivers

Arkansas – Dr. Willie Wilson, millionaire, and the ex-mayoral candidate is donating $200,000 worth of free gas Thursday, March 17.
Since 2 a.m.Vehicles have been lined up at 10 participating gas stations.
Starting at 7 a.m., each vehicle will get up to $50 worth of gas for free until the $200,000 is exhausted. The gas is pumped and counted by individuals hired by Wilson.
“The soaring price of gas has caused a hardship for too many of our citizens. The average price of regular gas has gone well over $4 a gallon for the first time in nearly 14 years and is now up nearly 50% from last year. The war in Ukraine, a ban on Russian oil, and high taxes are contributing to rising fuel prices,” Wilson said.
In order to help Wilson’s donation go even further for drivers, participating gas station owners lowered the gasoline prices during the giveaway.
The national average for the price of a gallon of gasoline currently sits at $4.29, according to AAA.
Wilson has donated more than 30 million face masks to the city of Chicago, health care workers, firefighters, transportation employees, and senior living facilities, during the COVID-19 pandemic.
He also donated $1 million to help people who lost their jobs due to the pandemic and another $1 million to Chicago area churches.
