Multiple firefighters respond to large grass fire

Craighead County, Arkansas – On Friday, firefighters battled a sizable grass fire near Valley View for several hours.
Crews from various agencies responded to the 4900-block of Highway 226 near Bell Athletics, according to Craighead County E-911.
Firefighters had to put out the flames for over two hours. Fire officials said that the situation was under control and the flames had been put out by 2 p.m.
A representative for the Jonesboro Police Department claimed that the fire spread rapidly due to the extremely dry and windy weather.
To put out the flames, firefighters from several departments responded, including Valley View-Southridge and the Cash Fire Departments.
In case there were any injuries, an ambulance also arrived as a precaution. None have been reported thus far.
The smoke was so dense that visibility was almost nonexistent. The road was closed in both directions, and traffic was diverted around the area by Craighead County sheriff’s deputies and Arkansas State Police.
