Our Promise House displays persistence in wake of thefts

Hot Springs, Arkansas – Cancer patients requiring treatment will have a temporary residence in Hot Springs at Our Promise House.

They have been working on it for a year, but unfavorable events have caused delays.

“To see a room finally put together and see all the pieces put together, it’s exciting,” said Stacey Pierce, the Executive Director of Our Promise House.

Copper wire was taken from the location not just once, but seven times last year. The non-profit incurred months of building and thousands of dollars in costs.

Gary Short, 46, was recognized as the individual who stole the wires by the Hot Springs Police Department. They haven’t stated whether Short was involved in any of the seven thefts, though.

Little touches abound to help the patient feel at home at Our Promise House.

There will be a memorial garden for daily meditation and a trail for patients to go outside.

The structure houses ten suites, each with a distinct style inspired by the person or family who sponsored the apartment. The room will be decorated in memory of a loved one who has battled cancer.

In addition, each room will have a private bathroom, refrigerator, and microwave.

“We’ll have welcome baskets for the patients as soon as they get here with coffee and amenities and all the options that you would want,” said Pierce.

At the start of April, Our Promise House will officially open.
