Residents of Little Rock are asked for their opinions on a possible increase in the sales tax

Little Rock, Arkansas – According to the mayor, citizens of Little Rock have been asked for their opinions on a proposed sales tax initiative.
On Wednesday, Mayor Frank Scott Jr. stated that he wants locals to participate in community forums to discuss the prospective tax measure.
The sessions will be held in each of Little Rock’s seven wards later in August.
In order to raise money for Little Rock’s needs, the Board of Directors of Little Rock and Mayor Frank Scott Jr. want to put the question to voters.
The city of Little Rock estimates that an annual increase in sales tax of around $60 million would be required to pay for projects and initiatives related to the four P’s.
The port/economic growth, public safety, public infrastructure, and parks and recreation are the four Ps, according to Mayor Scott.
“The Board and I value the opinions of Little Rock residents and we want to give them a seat at the table as we craft a sales tax proposal that re-energizes our City and creates transformational improvements to quality of life and place,” Mayor Scott said. “I’ve heard from residents across Little Rock who agree we need to re-invest in Little Rock and position the state’s capital city for continued growth and success for years to come.”
Residents will be able to learn more about the proposal at the meeting and express their concerns, according to the city.
