Sherwood held a fireworks display that helped an animal shelter
Sherwood, Arkansas – With a goal in mind, residents of Sherwood observed the Fourth of July on Monday night.
This year, the annual fireworks display was relocated from Sherwood Forest to the Greens at North Hills.
The City of Sherwood’s public information officer, Heather Jenkins, stated that this is a fantastic way to utilize the open space at the golf course.
Fundraising for the Sherwood Humane Animal Shelter is currently taking place in addition to the change in surroundings.
If they purchased a ticket, families could see the fireworks inside the country club, which had air conditioning. The humane society benefitted from the event’s proceeds.
Given the challenges the animal shelter has encountered, particularly since the tornado on March 31, Jenkins claimed that doing this for the shelter was a no-brainer.
“We’ve had two big storms since the mayor took office, and we’ve realized that the animal shelter does not have a generator and that’s a real tragedy, so that’s our ultimate goal to keep rolling with this,” Jenkins said.
The officer on duty at the shelter also emphasized that gifts like this can support the shelter’s expansion and free up additional room for the adoption of animals.
If you couldn’t make it on Monday but still want to assist, you may contribute at the shelter, and there are usually a lot of animals out for adoption.
