The fatal shooting at the Little Rock mall verified as an attempted robbery

Little Rock, Arkansas – On Monday night, the Little Rock Police Department was called to 6000 West Markham St. for assistance.
Officers discovered a woman with gunshot wounds when they arrived.
After being taken to a nearby hospital by Metropolitan Emergency Medical Services (MEMS), the victim passed away from her wounds.
Cynthia Gregory, 47, was eventually identified as the victim. For an autopsy, her body has been taken to the Arkansas State Crime Lab.
On January 29, 18-year-old Abdelrahmanahmed Sallam was taken into custody by Little Rock police. Sallam has now been charged with capital murder after authorities alleged that the incident was the consequence of a robbery attempt.
A statement was issued by Park Plaza in reaction to the shooting.
“We are heartbroken about the incident on Monday evening, and our deepest sympathies are with the victim, her family, and friends. We continue to work diligently to assist Little Rock Police in their ongoing investigation. Over the past several years, Park Plaza has made significant investments into the center, including enhancements to security infrastructure, resources, and operations. We also continue to work actively with local leaders, Little Rock Police, and other first responders to further enhance safety at the property and in our community. We are focused on providing our guests, tenants, and employees a safe place to shop, gather, and work. Their safety and well-being remains our highest priority.”
