The inspirational story of Khloe, an officer Norman buddy, and her fight with vision
North Little Rock, Arkansas – When was the last time you glanced at your neighbor and considered the challenges they confront, despite everything else you are juggling in your life?
Tommy Norman, a police officer in North Little Rock, has a friend named Khloe who was born blind. But despite the difficulty of navigating life without vision, Khloe is a living example of how everything is possible.
Khloe was taken by surprise by Officer Norman at the bus stop one day after school.
When Khloe got off the bus, he gave him a great hug and said, “You had no idea I was going to be waiting on you when you got off the bus.”
Khloe had a huge, radiant smile on her face and was overcome with emotion.
Norman asked her whether she still knew how to play the piano.
Yes, Khloe said. Before Khloe played him a song, Officer Norman made it plain that he was not going anywhere.
Norman was pleasantly surprised to learn that Khloe had composed a unique song for him that had the line, “Officer Norman is my friend.”
Norman remarked, “She’s such a highlight in so many people’s lives.”
Although Khloe and Norman became friends in 2020, Khloe was unable to see Officer Norman in person until July 2023.
Prior to flying to Pittsburgh for corneal transplant surgery, Khloe had been blind her entire life.
Christine Stracener, Khloe’s mother, stated that when Khloe was six weeks old, they tried a cornea transplant, but her body rejected it.
Norman remarked, “I can see very well, but when you think about complaining about things in life, you have a headache and a toothache.”
Khloe, who is only eleven years old, is the perfect example of “there is nothing you can’t do.”
She continues to sing and play the piano, demonstrating to us that you can still pursue your love.
As she hops up and down on the playground, you can still enjoy yourself. As she learns to dribble a basketball, you can still pick up new talents. Officer Norman is proof that you can always do more, but Khloe is proof that nothing is impossible.
According to Stracener, Officer Norman is “always there.”
Stracener described him as “like a member of the family and he does that all on his personal time.”
