The Izard County Sheriff’s Office continues its investigation into fake currency

Izard County, Arkansas – The Izard County Sheriff’s Office is still looking into numerous instances of the fake currency that are turning up all around the county. Finally, the investigators had some responses, and now two charges have been brought.
A felony warrant for six counts of forgery in the first degree was issued on January 20 against Mason Chism of Baxter County, according to a social media post. Chism spent six fictitious $20 notes at two different Calico Rock establishments.
On January 24, officers discovered two people in Horseshoe Bend who had outstanding warrants for unrelated offenses. Officers discovered bogus $100 bills worth over $7000 during their arrest. The same day, a statewide drug operation was conducted by the Sheriff’s Office, the 16th Judicial District Drug Task Force, and Arkansas Probation, Parole, and Community Corrections. However, during the operation, they discovered an additional $3300 in fake $100 bills that belonged to another Horseshoe Bend resident.
Later that day, the Sheriff’s Office was informed that on January 21, a generator had been bought with bogus $100 bills. This report helped them in their search for the generator and other items bought with fake checks, including a camper and a car.
Shaun Clair Bickford of Horseshoe Bend was charged with four counts of first-degree forgery on January 26.
All area establishments and bartenders are urged by the Izard County Sheriff’s Office to use caution when receiving money. Get in touch with the sheriff’s office right away if you receive counterfeit money.
