The man accused of the Fordyce mass shooting has a February trial date set
Fordyce, Arkansas – The village of Fordyce was rocked by a horrific shooting in June, and the residents are still in sorrow.
Travis Posey, who is accused of several counts of capital murder and attempted murder in connection with the shooting, had a hearing at Dallas County court on Friday.
Norma Powell, a local, appeared in court for the hearing and expressed how painful it is to remember the incident.
Powell expressed how devastating it is for those who have lost loved ones and family.
Attorneys for the prosecution and defense are awaiting the processing of additional evidence by the Arkansas State Crime Lab. The court scheduled the trial for February but acknowledged that there may be delays.
Powell described the incident as “just a terrible tragedy that shouldn’t have happened.”
Powell expressed her wish for the affected families to have peace throughout the anticipated three-week trial.
Powell added, “I pray for him and his mother and for the victims of our town.”
The judge scheduled the trial for February 3 and the prehearing for January 15. Posey may get life in jail or the death sentence if convicted of capital murder.
